Privacy at Verifyt.

Verifyt audits utility bills for retail tenants. To do that, we hold some of your personal information. Here’s what we take, why we take it, and what you can do about it.

What we collect

When you use the website:

  • Form submissions: name, work email, company, phone, store count, and any documents you upload (typically utility bills and landlord recharge invoices).
  • Email signups: your email if you join the transparency report list or any module early-access list.
  • Site analytics: pages you visited, the device you used, your approximate location (city level), and how you got to the site.

When you’re a paying customer:

  • Utility bills and landlord recharges you forward in.
  • Information about your stores, meters, landlords, leases, and contracted tariffs.
  • The dispute outcomes we help you action.

How we use it

To run audits on your behalf. To email you the results. To answer questions you ask us. To improve the service.

We do not sell your information. Ever.

Where it lives

Your bills and form data are processed through audited cloud providers. Files are stored in Vercel Blob storage. Email is sent via Resend. Analytics run through Vercel. Form CAPTCHAs use Cloudflare Turnstile. Some of these providers route through data centres outside South Africa. The POPIA notice covers the specifics.

How long we keep it

  • Form submissions and uploaded documents: 24 months, then deleted.
  • Customer data: while you’re a customer, plus 7 years afterward for tax and audit retention.
  • Email subscriptions: until you unsubscribe.
  • Site analytics: 14 months.

Your rights under POPIA

You can ask us:

  • What personal information we hold on you.
  • To correct or delete it.
  • To stop processing it (within limits: we can’t audit your bills if you object to us processing your bills).
  • To lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator if we’re handling your information badly.

Cookies

We use a few cookies. Analytics (only if you accept), a preference cookie that remembers your cookie-consent choice, and a CAPTCHA cookie on form pages. The cookie banner lets you reject everything except the strictly necessary cookies. Re-open it from the footer at any time.

Changes

When we change this policy, we update the date below. Material changes also get an email if you’re on our list.
